MBA in finance is a misnomer. Schools grant the MBA degree, not MBA in pharmacy, or MBA in finance, or MBA in marketing. The MBA is a general broad degree that prepares students for high level management positions. MBA students study accounting, finance, marketing, statistics, management, economics, strategy, policy, leadership, and similar courses. Most MBA programs accept students with any undergraduate degree. MBA programs prefer students whose undergraduate degree is not business related. they provide the management skills but they can't give you the broad background that managers should have. For an MS in Music you need a music degree, not a degree in finance. Although MBA programs may offer concentrations in specific fields in the second year, the emphasis in all MBA programs is on a broad range of courses. The specialization may amount to 2-3 elective courses in a field in the second year of the MBA program.
